Who are we?

These are the folks reading your application forms, making the mentorship pairings, and running the community events. If you see any of them in the wild, ask them any questions you have about the program, or better yet, ask them to dance!

Claudia Nobauer she/her

Claudia

Claudia has been dancing for the better half of her life. Lindy hop is her home, and the dance floor is where she comes to rest her feet. Over the past 20+ years Claudia has had the immense pleasure and opportunity to travel the world, learn from incredible dancers, and build lasting friendships. She understands the immense power of the lindy hop community to transform people’s lives and is committed to sharing its transformative power with others.

Lisa Marks she/her

Lisa

Lisa fell in love with partner dancing in 1998. Her goal is to make every social dance, whether partnered or solo, musical and memorable. She is interested in exploring and celebrating musicality, creativity and developing your own style. She’s continued to develop her skills as a dancer with a willingness to explore movement using various techniques and forms in and outside of jazz.

Carla Rodrigo she/they

Carla

Carla is a Vancouver-based dancer and lover of jazz. A lifelong music kid with stints in marching band and theatre, Carla found her footing in Lindy Hop and jazz dance in 2017. Since then, she’s had the incredible fortune to dance, learn, compete, choreograph, and teach in her community. She believes in grooves over moves and helping others make the dance feel at home in their bodies.

Colin Zorzit he/they

Colin

Colin has been a professional jazz musician for over a decade, but only started dancing in 2021. As a bass player who refuses to count music, Colin loves to learn through trial and error on the social floor, listening excitedly to both their partner and the music to inform their dancing. Their love for jazz extends beyond the Lindy Hop standards, with Bebop being the style that first captured their toe tappin' heart (so much so that their cat is named Charles Mingus, after their favourite bassist).

Ajay Sivanand he/him

Ajay

Ajay’s loved dancing since his knees have kept him up, grooving at birthday party dance floors when he was barely 3 foot tall. When he eventually stumbled into the joy and mystery of partner dancing, he became obsessed. For a decade now, swing dance (and a smattering of other partner dances) have taken a hold of his life. He loves geeking out about connection, movement, community, communication and all the other wonderful worlds he’s gotten to explore through the lens of partner dancing.
